Annette President Turner is a Registered Marriage and Family Therapy Intern. She received her Master's degree from North Central University. Her primary therapeutic model of choice is Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). This model of therapy is an evidence-based approach that centers around finding solutions rather than focusing on the problem. "In the most basic sense, SFBT is a hope friendly, positive emotion eliciting, future-oriented vehicle for formulating, motivating, achieving, and sustaining desired behavioral change."
Originally, Annette is from Wentzville, MO. She states that it "used to be a little town, but now is a metropolis 45 minutes out of Saint Louis." Her hobbies and interests include reading, singing, writing, sewing, puzzles, and crocheting. She also authored and co-authored five books and loves writing people's memoirs. In addition, Annette has been a Sunday school teacher for over 25 years and has spoken at several women's conferences.
Annette has been married to her husband for 44 years. She says, "[We] met on a blind date and married six weeks later." Together they have 4 children and 11 grandchildren. On top of being a Certified Professional Life Coach, Annette is also working toward her PhD in Metaphysics.
Annette states that she is passionate about "Inspiring others to discover and realize their potential. I truly believe everyone has potential and deep down they have the answers. My task is to help them find those answers for themselves." She was drawn to this profession when she realized that many of the people (couples) she looked up to as references for her marriage were suddenly seeking divorce. She states, "I didn't understand why. I also taught Sunday School for years, and was a youth leader where many of the youth would tell me things that they wouldn't dare tell their parents. Why?"
One piece of advice Annette commonly gives her clients is "Never put a limit on your potential."
If you ever get the privilege of meeting Annette, ask her about her love for butterflies.
